Router TP-Link TL-WR940N (V3): Review and Reviews

For a long time now, the site has published an article on configuring two TP-Link TL-WR940N and TL-WR941ND routers. This is one of the first instructions on wifiwiki.net. The article is very popular and has gathered a lot of comments. It’s not strange, because TP-Link TL-WR940N and TP-Link TL-WR941ND routers are very popular among users. Today we are going to look at the updated version of TP-Link TL-WR940N router (hardware version v3). Previously, this router was released in a white case. Which, frankly speaking, was a bit outdated, and the manufacturer updated it. Now the TL-WR940N model comes in a beautiful and modern black case of a new shape. And as far as I understood, not only the case was updated, but also the chipset itself, on which the router works. The hardware is updated with each new hardware version.
What the TL-WR940N is. I think this is a router that is just perfect for use in a private home, or apartment. Especially when your apartment is not small, you will connect via Wi-Fi not one or two devices and more, and you want to watch online videos, play online games, etc. without problems. You can buy a cheaper model TP-LINK TL-WR841N. But if finances allow, it is better to take TP-Link TL-WR940N, it is not much more expensive. Well, if you need Wi-Fi 5GHz, and USB port, then look TP-LINK Archer C20, or Tp-Link Archer C20i. If you can not decide on the choice of router, then read the article what Wi-Fi router is better to buy for home or apartment.
In any case, TP-Link TL-WR940N will hold up to 15 devices when connected via wi-fi, this is more than enough for the house. In addition, judging by reviews, this model has no problems with the radius of coverage of the Wi-Fi network. For a large two-room apartment should definitely be enough. True, here everything depends on the conditions where this router will be installed. It is possible to configure speed limitation by IP-addresses. But unfortunately, there is no support for guest network.
Setting up the router is very simple. The control panel is like all TP-Link, green color. If you can’t figure out the settings, see the configuration manual. I gave the link at the beginning of the article.
TP-Link TL-WR940N review
As I wrote earlier, this model used to be available in a white case. But starting with the hardware version v3, TP-Link has updated the design of this router. Not just updated, but completely changed it.
Now it is a modern device, which is made of black plastic. And on the front panel the plastic has a relief structure (see photo). That of course only decorates the router. Also on the front panel there is the TP-Link logo, which also looks voluminous, and indicators, which are burning blue. By the way, as for the WAN (Internet) indicator. Already seen on several new TP-Link routers, now when the cable to the WAN-port is connected, but the router is not connected to the Internet (for example, because of the settings), then the WAN indicator lights up orange (red) color. This is very convenient.
As usual, all the ports and buttons are hidden on the back panel of the router. There we have 1 WAN and 4 LAN ports. There are also three buttons: power on/off, WPS/RESET button, and Wi-Fi network on/off button. And of course there is a connector for the power adapter.
There are also three antennas fixed there, but they are not removable. As for their power, it seems to be 5dbi each.
Unfortunately, there is no possibility to hang the router on the wall. For many people this is an important point.
Reviews of TP-Link TL-WR940N (v3)
Since the first hardware version, the TP-Link TL-WR940N router has been very popular among buyers. Because of the good price/quality ratio. And with the hardware version v3, and above, I think this router will become even more popular. True, among those who are not chasing new technologies. After all, this model does not support the new IEEE 802.11ac standard (wi-fi 5GHz), and there is no USB port. But this of course reflected in its price.
In any case, the model was and will be popular, because the price as always decides. I think that you will hardly regret choosing TL-WR940N as your home router.
As for the reviews of TP-Link TL-WR940N, there are certainly a lot of them. After all, the model has been sold for a long time, and very successfully. I sat here, read the reviews, and found nothing bad about this model. There are certainly different reviews, but there is one point here, not everyone understands how to properly configure the router, and what to expect from it in general.
If you need a router for the house, or apartment, suit the price and like this model looks, then you can buy without thinking. And then don’t forget to leave your review about TL-WR940N. All the best!
