Tenda AC9-OVERVIEW of A PowerFul and Inexpensave Wi-Fi Router for Home

Before writing an instruction on how to set up the Tenda AC9 router, I decided to do a little review. This is a very interesting router. Powerful, beautiful, functional, and for a very good price. I can confidently say that the performance of the Tenda AC9 is enough for almost any home tasks. Whether it is watching online videos in high quality, downloading files, online games, etc. Everything will work stably even on all your devices at the same time. Hardly for 60-65 dollars (that’s how much the Tenda AC9 costs) you can find a more powerful router.

This is of course a dual-band router with support for the IEEE 802.11ac standard. The maximum speed of Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz is 300 Mbps. And at 5 GHz – up to 1167 Mbps. Two external, non-removable antennas with a capacity of 3 dBi each are responsible for Wi-Fi signal broadcasting.

Gigabit ports. 1 WAN, and 4 LAN ports. There is also 1 USB port for connecting flash drives, external hard disks and printers. You can organize a print server, or share files on a USB drive. It is a pity that there is no support for USB modems. If you have Internet via USB modem, this router will not suit you.

Support for different standards and functions is certainly good. But to make it work stably, you need a powerful processor. Tenda AC9 runs on a processor from Broadcom (BCM47189, or BCM53573) with a clock frequency of 900 MHz. It can handle a very decent workload. At least, I didn’t notice any problems at times of high load. True, I don’t use it for a long time, and I didn’t load it on purpose. I haven’t met any information about such a problem in the reviews either. To “put” such a router, it is necessary to try hard. It is unlikely that you will find so many devices.

As for the program part, the web-interface itself (page with settings), everything is very simple and clear. In my case, the control panel is multilingual. Everyone will be able to configure the router. And without the help of specialists.

There is also a task scheduler. In general, it is a cool thing. You can set it to automatically disconnect Wi-Fi network at a certain time. It can also disable indicators on the front panel. Set, for example, to turn off the indicators and Wi-Fi network at 12 o’clock at night (when no one uses), and in the morning it will all turn on automatically. Also the Tenda AC9 router can reboot itself (self-service mode). At night, from 3 o’clock to 5 o’clock, when there is no activity. This increases the stability of operation.

The delivery set is standard. Except that the kit still comes with a foot, on which the router itself is installed. Everything is packed securely. The glossy panel on the router is sealed with a protective film.

The router itself is made of black matte plastic. Only the panel where the indicators are located is made of glossy plastic. I like it. It is not a shame to put the router in a prominent place.

There are a lot of ventilation holes on the top, back and bottom. Thanks to that the router doesn’t heat up at all.

All ports and buttons are located on the back panel. 1 WAN, 4 LAN, 1 USB 2.0, and a connector for the power adapter. Among the buttons: WPS, Wi-Fi (switching wireless network off and on) and a Reset button recessed into the case. Also pay attention to the sticker with the factory information: the address for entering the settings, the factory name of the Wi-Fi network, the password.

You can’t hang Tenda AC9 on the wall. There are no holes, and the ports won’t allow it. There are rubber feet on the stand. This is a pleasant moment. The router stands steadily on the table.

The glossy part. It is better not to touch it. It leaves fingerprints right away.

I liked the router very much. Both in appearance and in operation. I also like their control panel. Everything is simple and easy to understand. For ordinary users, not professionals, this is very important.
