Zyxel Keenetic Start: Reviews, Characteristics and Photos

If you compare it to TL-WR741ND, for example, I would advise you to buy ZyXEL Keenetic Start and only it. The price is a few dollars higher, but it is much better and works more stable.

The router turned out to be really successful, thanks to its modern hardware, design and simplicity in connection and configuration (which is important), well, and I liked the box:) If you need an inexpensive router to connect several computers, mobile devices, Smart TV and watch IPTV to the Internet, this model is a great option. Without problems, you can combine all these devices into a local network.

The main characteristics of ZyXEL Keenetic Start:

Works at speeds up to 150 Mbps, 802.11n network standard, and 2.4 GHz frequency.
WAN connector is a regular RJ-45. It supports all popular connection like PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, etc.
There are 4 LAN ports, which works at speeds up to 100 Mbps. There is also a bridge mode.
The processor is MIPS 24KEc 360 MHz, RAM is 32 MB. By the way, the control panel displays RAM usage and CPU load.

On the Internet you can meet a lot of reviews, mostly all positive. There are certainly reviews about different problems in the work of ZyXEL Keenetic Start. Mostly it is unstable operation of Wi-Fi connection and a small signal range. As for the problems with the work of wi-fi, they can be caused by interference from other networks. And the network coverage of this router will be enough for about 2-3 rooms. Basically, everything depends on the location of the router and the walls.

An important question, does ZyXEL Keenetic Start cut the speed of connection via cable and wi-fi? Yes, all routers cut it. Of course, if you have a tariff up to 20 Mb/s, you will hardly notice it. But if you have a tariff of 100 Mbps, it will be noticeable. There are many reviews about it, even 70 Mbps on wi-fi received from this router, information from the Internet, not checked. There will be an opportunity, will test. But, do not forget that everyone has different conditions (interference, type of connection to the provider) and the result will certainly be different. Also, much depends on the device that you connect and on which you measure the speed.

My feedback:

I have nothing but good impressions of Keenetic Start. I immediately really liked the box. It has white cardboard in the middle, and the box with instructions looks especially nice (Apple must have taken it from me). All the glossy panels of the router are sealed with foil.

It’s noticeable that ZyXEL took care of an ordinary user who will configure the router himself. All ports and buttons on the back panel are signed. For example, the connector in which we connect the cable from the provider, and signed “Internet”. Also, separately it is worth noting a simple control panel.

I did not find any minuses in this router. Except for a very mark, glossy panel. But there is not much of it (on the top panel). And the WPS button is pressed somehow not very pleasant and loud.
