TP-Link Archer C7: Review and Reviews

Today we have the TP-LINK Archer C7 router for review. This is not a budget router model, but not a top-of-the-line one either. Archer C7 costs a little over a hundred dollars. And for this money we get a powerful and, what is very important, modern router, which is unlikely to become obsolete even in a couple of years.

Let’s talk about the main thing at once. TP-LINK Archer C7 is a dual-band, gigabit router. This means that it can broadcast Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz. Of course, there’s support for the new 802.11ac standard. The maximum speed over the wireless network: at 2.4GHz speeds up to 450Mbps, and at 5GHz speeds up to 1300Mbps. With the wireless network sorted out.

WAN port, and 4 LAN ports so can also work at speeds of 1000 Mbps. There are two USB ports, version 2.0. Having two USB ports is very cool. After all, you can simultaneously organize a common access to a network printer, and a USB drive. Also, there is support for 3G/4G modems. But, I could not understand on which hardware versions of the router, or firmware. Most likely, since the second hardware version. Tho on devices that go for a specific country. I think that after updating the firmware to the latest version, everything will work.

This router will consistently give out internet under load. When you want to play online games, watch videos, etc. on several computers at the same time. It seems to me that Archer C7 is an ideal router model for everyone who has Smart TVs. To use all the features, and not to observe connection failures, or lack of speed when watching videos in high quality.

I forgot to write more about antennas, and the radius of coverage of Wi-Fi network. Three removable antennas (5 dBi capacity) are responsible for transmitting Wi-Fi signal at 5 GHz. And three built-in antennas (4.5 dBi) broadcast the signal at 2.4 GHz. But, even so, the radius of coverage of Wi-Fi network at 2.4 GHz is still exactly more (by one division, checked on the phone). The coverage is enough for an apartment or a house. Well, if not enough, you can install a repeater, or strengthen Wi-Fi in other ways.

TP-LINK Archer C7 router review

Personally, I liked the design of the Archer C7 router very much. The only thing I didn’t like was the marred, glossy, black plastic that the upper part of the case is made of. It looks cool, but it collects fingerprints very well. But, if you wipe the router and do not touch it, everything is fine. On the front panel, you can see the indicators that are lit in green color.

All ports and buttons are placed on the back side of the router. There is nothing there. In addition to the attachment of three antennas, you can see there:

  • A connector for the power adapter.
  • On/Off button for power control.
  • A separate switch to turn on and off the wi-fi network.
  • Two USB ports with indicators.
  • 1 WAN-port and 4 LAN-ports.
  • WPS/Reset button.

Here’s how it looks like:

Everything is beautiful, convenient, and it is immediately obvious that the router is not the cheapest. It’s not the smallest one either. It’s just a pity that there are no rubberized feet. But you can hang Archer C7 on the wall.

Reviews of TP-LINK Archer C7

If you have already bought this router, then be sure to write your review in the comments. It will be very useful for everyone who is thinking about buying this model. You can write about your impression, how it works, what problems you may have had, etc.

I think that TP-LINK Archer C7 is a very good option for a home router. It will give internet to all your devices without any problems, and what is very important, it will work stably, compared to cheaper models. There’s a reason why it has collected so many different awards.

To summarize: it looks cool, works stably, modern, powerful. Good value for money. If you like the look and the price – take it, you won’t regret it. If you can’t decide which router to choose, see the article on choosing a router for your home.
