Linksys E1200 – ReView, Characteristics and Reviews

I have little experience with routers Linksys company, but here I got acquainted with Linksys E1200 and now I will try to make a review of this model, consider the main characteristics, I will leave a review, and you can leave your own review. The greatest value is the reviews of users who have a certain router for a long time. The fact that I looked at the router, configured it, checked how it works, etc., will not allow me to determine all the shortcomings of the device. I can only read reviews on other sites, add my feelings about the router to them and write about it on the pages of this site. But I hope that this information will be useful for you.

I’m getting off topic. So, so Linksys E1200. Now we will try to understand what kind of router it is, for whom it is suitable and what are its disadvantages. E1200 I would refer to inexpensive models, which is suitable for home use. But, here you need to understand that if you have a large three-room apartment, or you plan to connect a lot of devices, then Linksys E1200 will not suit you. The radius of coverage of Wi-Fi network is not very large. Enough for 1-2 rooms with a stable signal. I highly doubt that you will be able to use the Internet through two walls.

A small review of Linksys E1200

Linksys E1200 looks very cool and stylish. Black case of matte plastic, the absence of external antennas and interesting shapes of the device, make this router very attractive. Everything is beautiful and harmonious. And the lack of indicators of the device on the front panel is only a plus of this router, it does not look like a Christmas tree and will not interfere with your sleep. The indicators are located on the back panel, under the corresponding connectors and buttons.

Almost all the buttons and connectors are collected on the back side of the device. There you can find 1 WAN connector, 4 LANs, and a connector for the power cable. There is a separate button to activate WPS and power off. And at the bottom you can find a button for factory reset. It is recessed in the case. To reset Linksys E1200, you need to press this button with something sharp and hold it for about 10 seconds (all indicators should light up and go out).

There are two rubber feet at the bottom, so the router does not slide on the table. Unfortunately, there is no way to hang the router on the wall. Just looked at this router, and realized that if you spill something on top of it, it will not do anything, if you pick it up quickly, so that the liquid does not drip from the bottom:) There are no holes, seams or buttons on top. It seems like nothing, but stuff happens.

Is it easy to configure this router yourself? Yes, it is not difficult. The set with this router comes with a disk, which has software for quick setup (now, the disk with the router is a rarity). But, I would advise you to configure it right away through the browser. The control panel itself looks confusing and outdated. The competitors have had everything much better for a long time. It seems to me that it would be better if they gave up the configuration with the help of a disk (I think it’s the last century), and made a normal control panel of the router.

Reviews of Linksys E1200

Some pronounced disadvantage of this router does not have. Yes, not a very strong wi-fi signal. I agree, I checked, I think that the same TP-LINK TL-WR841ND will have a better signal (I have experience). And the price is about the same. They write that it cuts the speed, bad WAN port, badly tolerates power fluctuations, does not brew coffee, does not hold the load, etc. What I want to say is that every router has such shortcomings and, accordingly, reviews on the network. You see, the market for these routers has long been formulated, there are so many manufacturers, and fortunately, there is something to choose from. Well, it does not happen now that sells a router, which is frankly sorry “it”.

If it was bad, it would simply not buy. Do not make now such bad models. And if something appears on the market, all the shortcomings of the manufacturer quickly corrects, otherwise he will not sell anything and even spoil his reputation. There are no bad routers, there are cheap, medium in price category and expensive. And if you can not choose between several devices that cost the same, then take the one you like better in appearance. Since they will work the same way (and even if they don’t, you won’t notice the difference).

Something took me wrong again:) Well, I think you get my point. Linksys E1200 normal router, such as all for this money. And reviews, which can be read for each model, any device, this is a separate topic. I will write a detailed article about it sometime.

I understand that if you choose a router, you want to hear specifically whether a certain model will suit you. But hardly anyone will give you a concrete answer. Unless you have a good technician who has a lot of experience and who will first look at your home (walls, router location, etc.). Linksys E1200 is suitable for connecting your phones, laptops, TVs, tablets and other devices via wi-fi. You will be able to connect a few more devices via cable. But, you need to realize that if you hang on it say 10 devices that will pump something, on which you will play online games and watch videos, then this router is likely to simply not withstand the load. And if you have a large apartment, say 70 squares and more, then buy something more powerful. You can look Linksys, but more expensive and powerful models of this manufacturer.
