Zyxel Keenetic 4G III Rev. B loses the Internet from the provider

I’m asking for intellectual help for a dummy.

Keenetic 4G III rev.B, used without USB modem, Onlime provider.

The essence of the problem: From time to time (up to several times a day) it loses access to the Internet. When directly connecting the computer with a cord, the Internet is available.

Tech support fixes communication failures, if you torture the operator for a long time – they say something like “the router does not request an IP-address”, and then the standard – call a master, look at the settings, etc. In about 50% of cases the Internet appears on the router either during the conversation or immediately after.

About the router: the good old one of this type began to fool some time ago; I decided that maybe it is necessary to update the firmware, updated, after which it almost completely stopped accessing the Internet. I bought a new one, plugged it in – it asked for the standard auto-configuration (I did it according to the recommendation on the ISP’s website), after which it could not connect to the Internet. Our sysadmin remotely looked at the settings and waved his hands, said the problem is likely to be with the provider. After some time the router came back to life by itself. It can work for several days without failures, and can fail several times a day. When rebooting the power supply, the Internet is lost, and recovery is unpredictable in terms of time.

A technician from the provider came to check the line. Looked and router settings, nothing criminal did not see.

The latest firmware version (2.09) installed, does not cure.

No idea what could be the cause?

Answer

This is a strange and ambiguous problem. Interestingly, when the cable is directly connected to the PC, the internet works fine. The problem doesn’t seem to be on the ISP side.

The reason the internet appears when you talk to support is that support resets the connection and it is reestablished.

I understand correctly, you bought a new router and it didn’t work? Doesn’t your ISP do MAC address binding? If the problem is with two routers, the ISP technician looked at the whole thing and the problem is solved, then most likely the problem is on the ISP side.

It would be good to test your ZyXEL Keenetic 4G III rev. B to test with another provider. Will there be interruptions in connection with the Internet.
