Wi-Fi speed fall through TP-Link Archer C2

I have a TP-Link Archer C2 router. The speed of the Internet provider is 100 Mbps. On cable the speed reaches 98-99 Mbps. After moving, I faced the problem that the speed on Wi-Fi dropped sharply to 26 Mbps (and sometimes to 5 Mbps). However, this problem is observed on phone, laptop and tablet. On a computer, the Wi-Fi speed reaches 80-95 Mbps.

Changing DNS, switching to another channel did not help.

wi-fi Analyzer shows excellent signal and free channel.

The problem occurred after the move.

What could be the problem?

Answer

Hello. It is difficult, of course, to give a specific answer to your question, as the reason for the speed drop can be anything. But you wrote that on your computer you have 80-95 Mbps on wi-fi. TP-Link Archer C2 is a dual-band router, which means that you probably have 2 Wi-Fi networks. In the 2.4 GHz range it’s hard to get 80-95 Mbps. I assume that your computer is connected to a 5 GHz network.

So maybe the rest of your devices are connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network? And because of that the speed on your laptop, tablet and phone dropped. On these devices even next to TP-Link Archer C2 the speed is up to 26 Mbps and occasionally drops even lower? If the speed is unstable, it’s most likely due to interference . Are there many neighboring Wi-Fi networks in the house? Maybe the router is installed near some device that can cause interference?

I don’t know how many times you’ve changed the Wi-Fi channel and which ones you’ve put, but you should try a few options. I also recommend experimenting with the channel width. After changing the settings, save the settings and reboot the router. These are the settings that refer to the network at 2.4 GHz.

On TP-Link Archer C2, depending on the hardware version installed different control panels. So the appearance of the settings may differ from those on the screenshot.

If you have only new devices in your house, you can also set the network mode to 802.11n (Only n).

Changing the Wi-Fi mode on TP-Link Archer C2 to increase the speed

If it is possible. In the web-interface on the first screenshot you can select only mixed mode. Only n cannot be set.

In case all this doesn’t help, you can complete your question by answering my questions above. We will think further.
