Wi-Fi disappears on the Dell laptop (Windows 10) through the Mercusys router
I ran the troubleshooter – most often the message “dns server is not responding” appears, sometimes – “connection of the access point of the router or cable modem to the Internet is broken”.
Most often the problem appears when I start to load the network more (turn on live video broadcasting, for example). From the list of devices connected to the router sometimes disappear (if there is an exclamation mark), but most often it writes that I have a connection. I don’t see this problem on other devices.
If anything, the laptop is a Dell Inspiron, the OS is Windows 10, and the router is Mercusys.
I did the following:
- rebooted the router and the laptop
- changed dns settings on the laptop(set 8.8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)
- several times deleted the network from memory and reconnected again
- updated all drivers
- tested hardware and software with SupportAssist downloaded from the official Dell website – everything is clean
Does not help anything! Can the problem be in the built-in Wi-Fi adapter? And what other solutions are there?
Thank you!
Answer
Hello. Thank you for your detailed description of the problem.
The first thing I recommend doing (besides what you’ve already done): reset Windows 10 network settings and apply the tips from this article: Windows 10 Wi-Fi Disconnects. The Wi-Fi connection on my laptop is dropping out.
I don’t think the problem is with the laptop. After all, Wi-Fi started disappearing immediately after replacing the router. But on the other hand, why the other devices work fine.
Usually, when the Internet disappears at times of high load on the network, the problem is in the router. Since it can not cope with this load. But the Internet at such times stops working on all devices. As a rule, until the router is rebooted.
A few questions:
- What model of Mercusys router do you have?
- When you connect your laptop to other networks, does the internet not disconnect?
- What other devices have you tested on? Have you tried loading the network from other devices?
Try doing what I wrote above. If it doesn’t help, then give an answer to these three questions and we’ll think further.
