Why does Wi-Fi disappear on TP-Link TL-WR741N / TL-WR741ND?

I am a happy user of TP-link tl-wr741n/tl-wr741nd router. No problems were observed until yesterday. Suddenly the Wi-Fi signal started to disappear for a few seconds. This happens about once a minute. All devices lose the network. There are no complaints about the provider, the connection is stable via cable. Changing the channel did not help. Resets/reboots are the same. All lights are blinking according to the norm. I haven’t tried changing the firmware or rolling back to factory defaults yet. And will it make sense? The problem appeared suddenly, no one even thought to touch the router itself or change the settings.

Hi. Is there any way you can notice this Wi-Fi network drop? Do the devices have time to disconnect from the WI-Fi network? Does the Wi-Fi indicator on TP-Link TL-WR741N stop blinking for a while?

If changing the wireless network channel didn’t help (did you save the settings and reboot the router after the change?), then there is hardly anything you can do. I think it’s a hardware failure of TL-WR741N. It happens. Usually, though, the Internet just disappears through the router until the next reboot. I wrote about it in the article Internet disappears on TP-Link TL-WR741ND (TL-WR741N) router.

You can update the firmware. It won’t interfere, but it probably won’t help either.

If reset, software update and other settings do not give results, then it’s something with the hardware itself. You need to repair the router, or change it.

Of course, if you have the opportunity, you can check it in another place and preferably with other devices.

On TP-Link TL-WR741N / TL-WR741ND such problems are not rare. As well as on other budget routers.
