Why does the PC not connect to Wi-Fi through the TP-Link TL-WN725N adapter?

Hello, tried to connect Windows 7 64-bit PC to Wi-Fi via TP-LINK TL-WN725N v3 network adapter, downloaded newer drivers from the website for this version, enabled search for new connections, disabled antivirus.

The adapter is present in the Device Manager as a network adapter, also visible in the network connections tab, as well as when connecting the adapter to the system, the connection icon changes from a rectangle to sticks (signal strength), when removing it back appears a rectangle, but there is no connection, it does not see any connection.

The strangest thing is that in the Network Connections tab the wireless icon is not active, it is gray, click on the icon, select enable and the connection and connected boxes appear next, but the icon remains gray, not active, and no connections appear.

Windows diagnostics reports that there is a problem with the adapter driver and/or network connections. What could be the problem?

Answer

Hello. It’s hard to understand such a problem from the description. It would be much better if you attach screenshots. At least from the “Network Connections” window and the window that opens after clicking on the Wi-Fi icon (signal strength) in the Windows 7 tray.

In the “Network Connections” window, when you right click on the Wi-Fi adapter and select enable, what exactly happens? What is the status next to “Wireless Network Connection”? And what happens if you just click on the wifi icon in the tray.

Maybe there just aren’t any Wi-Fi networks in the radius, so the computer can’t see the available Wi-Fi networks.

Some tips:

  • Uninstall the TP-LINK TL-WN725N Wi-Fi adapter in Device Manager and restart your computer.
  • Download the driver “TL-WN725N(EU)_V3_180807_Win” from TP-Link’s website and run it to reinstall it.
  • Look for solutions in the article TP-Link adapter can’t see network, won’t connect to wi-fi. There I showed how to solve some problems with Wi-Fi adapters from TP-Link.

You can add your question in the comments. Including screenshots. I think they will clarify a lot.
