Why can’t you put the password on the D-Link DIR-615?

A router was left from Vodafone provider. The new provider connected the Internet through this router, but the next day I found out that the Wi-Fi network is open. (Previously it was protected). I could not put protection in the router, the settings windows close, not allowing to change anything. I thought that someone had changed something in the software through the open network.

Rebooted with reset button, nothing changes. Updated the firmware according to your recommendations. The result – the view has changed, but after the initial change and confirmation of the new password, a new window with login and password opens, to which nothing fits and it is impossible to go anywhere.

It seems that telecom scammers have customized the router, which cannot be used anywhere else and made me buy it back for a terrible price. For the same reason I don’t want to take their router from a new provider. It turns out twice a loser. What to do?

Hello. If you managed to update the firmware of the router, then most likely there is no binding to the provider. Especially if the Internet from Vodafone through your D-Link DIR-615 (from another ISP) still works.
