Weak reception of Wi-Fi network on HP laptop

Hello!

I have a Wireless Router N series, speed up to 300 Mbps TL-WR841N, laptop HP 15-r062sr with pre-installed Windows 8.1 later upgraded to windows 10. The problem is that both during windows 8.1 and windows 10 there is a weak wi-fi signal. After upgrading to windows 10 in general began a nightmare. That appears wi-fi, then appears very weak. Especially if you move 5 meters or more away from the router.

The first thing put an external Wi-Fi adapter TP-link, then the signal increased at full power. Internet speed is at least 10-15 Mbit/sek. But this is a temporary phenomenon and decided to change the native Wi-Fi adapter Ralink RT3290 to Qualcomm Atheros RA9584 and installed the latest driver for it just for windows 10. As a result, the problem persisted. Now the question is to replace the Wi-Fi antenna. Is it worth it? What to do?

Answer

Hi. Yes, it is quite possible that the problem is exactly in the Wi-Fi antenna of your HP laptop. Because of it, there may be poor reception of Wi-Fi network on the laptop. Especially, far away from the router. What exactly could happen to the antenna, I can not answer. You need to disassemble the laptop and look. Maybe the cable (loop) from the wireless module to the antenna is broken. Or the antenna itself is installed incorrectly.

Especially since the network is good with an external receiver from TP-Link. And other devices probably work fine with this router. And I have never seen that because of some settings in Windows, or even because of a driver there was poor reception of Wi-Fi network.
