Unstable work of the Internet on the old PC in cable

Wired Internet. A yellow triangle appears, after diagnostics the message “The default gateway is not available” and“The connection of an access point, router or cable modem to the Internet is broken” appears, the Internet then appears, but after some time it disappears again. I read a lot of articles on the Internet, tried a bunch of options, updated drivers, checked the computer for viruses, nothing helped.

I was told that the problem may be in the built-in network cable (the computer is old). Can a new network cable solve the problem or will that not help either?

Answer

In your case, the cause could be anything. You didn’t write how you have internet connection to your computer. Directly from the ISP, or through a router/modem. If through a router, then whether the Internet works stably on other devices.

If the cable is connected to the PC directly from the ISP, it is possible that the problem is on the ISP side. You can contact the ISP support with this question.

You probably mean the network card. Yes, the problem may be in the network card. But there is no guarantee that the Internet will work stably after replacing the network card.
