Unstable Wi-Fi signal TP-Link TL-WR741ND
Good afternoon. Please advise me. I have a TP-Link WR741ND router. A year ago its range decreased to 3 meters. And in the list of wireless devices my router is available in the most remote places of the apartment, but it is impossible to connect to it. The data transfer speed also dropped: by router – ~7 Mbps, and by cable – ~90 Mbps. I changed it to an identical one, but it didn’t help. So it’s not a problem with the router. My theory is that there is some radiation source nearby that is interfering with the router’s signal. Although it’s not certain. I changed the channels in the router settings, but that didn’t help either. Can you tell me what can be done in this situation? Thank you.
Answer
Good day. Yes, it is quite possible that it is because of interference. Maybe because of this unstable Wi-Fi network signal and unstable work.
Do you have this problem on all your devices? Do you have devices in your house that find many neighboring Wi-Fi networks?
My advice:
- If possible, move the router to another location. In another room, for example. True, it’s not always possible to do this because of the network cable from the ISP that runs into a particular room.
- Experiment more with the channel of the Wi-Fi network. You wrote that it does not give anything. Have you tried different channels? After each change, save the settings and reboot your TP-Link TL-WR741ND.
- Also experiment with the channel width.
Don’t forget to save the settings and reboot the router.
- In the Wi-Fi network settings change the region to your own.
