Hello. As far as I know, you don’t need to do a factory reset to update the firmware. And the firmware upgrade process itself usually does not reset the settings. Maybe it’s different on D-Link DSL-2740U.

If your D-Link DSL-2740U doesn’t connect to the Internet, there is no connection, then the problem is definitely in the settings. I don’t know what firmware you have (by the look of it), but in any case, you need to configure your DSL-2740U to connect to the provider. After that, the indicator light that is red now will turn green. In the modem settings, on the “ADSL” or “Network” – “WAN” tab, you need to set the parameters that your ISP gives you.
