The Wi-Fi module completely disappears on the Compaq Pressario CQ56-230SR laptop after installing Windows 10/7
wi-fi adapter – Ralink RT3090BC4.
Once XP was here, there were no problems with wi-fi. Then the laptop was not used for some time.
Then it was taken to the cleaner + 2GB of RAM was added to it. In the service I checked, the laptop’s Wi-Fi worked, I remind you there was XP.
I needed to put here, either 10 or 7. Said, done.
And the wi-fi dance began. When I turn on my laptop, the Wi-Fi icon either has a cross on it or it finds my network. I connect, less than a minute passes – all this time the internet works. Then a yellow triangle appears on the wi-fi icon. After another 30 seconds, the wi-fi icon disappears, and the monitor icon appears that there is no cable, although the cable is not connected (Internet works fine through the cable).
After all this, a yellow triangle appears on the network adapter in Device Manager.
I have tried many drivers, three different Windows 7 and two Windows 10. Now I am still on Windows 10. I have tried both older and newer drivers, now I have Ralink RT3090 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter ver 5.0.48.0.
I also tried the methods described in the Internet… It’s been a day and a half already with this problem
What else can be?
Answer
Hi. And after cleaning and adding RAM, have you been running Windows XP for a long time? At the very least you can put XP back on now. That way you can make sure that the problem is not in the hardware of the laptop or in the Ralink RT3090BC4 module itself.
I don’t think the problem can be in the driver, or in Windows itself. You have installed Windows 10 and Windows 7. You tried different drivers. Especially since the manufacturer’s website for Compaq Presario CQ56-230SR has drivers for Windows 7. Did you download them from there?
wi-fi module disconnects after connecting to different wireless networks?
Check your power settings: /miscellaneous-tips-for-windows/settling-power-supply-of-a-wireless-network-adapter/
If you go to Device Manager when there is a yellow icon with an exclamation mark next to the Wi-Fi adapter and open its properties, it will show the status of the module. Or there will be a description of the error. Check it out.
