The router TP-Link TL-WR845N loses the connection of WAN and automatically does not restore

Hello. For some time now I have been worried about a problem with TP-Link TL-WR845N router. After a power outage in the neighborhood or problems on the ISP side, the router does not find the WAN (the indicator lights orange). Now more details:

When simply unplugging the router nothing like this happens, it works normally.

It loses WAN only after a power outage or problems with the ISP

  1. Wired connection is restored after troubleshooting problems at the provider, but not through the router
  2. All prescribed settings in the settings panel are saved, at first glance nothing is reset.
  3. Resetting and configuring the router again helped. Then I realized that a simple update through the “Status” tab in the settings panel also helps
  4. At the same time with power outage or provider’s malfunctions, Vodafone’s mobile network disappears, from stable 4G drops to E. And these are definitely interconnected things, at other times nothing like this is observed. I don’t know how important this point is to solving the problem, but felt it necessary to report it.

Would really like to avoid having to meddle with settings after every power outage.

Router: TP-Link TL-WR845N, bought in April. In addition to the problems described above, sometimes the speed of wi-fi connection drops critically for some unknown reason, but I have so far attributed it to the busy channels around me.

Mobile operator: Vodafone

Thank you in advance.

Hi. Sorry for the delay in replying.

I think the fault is on the side of the internet service provider. After powering down their equipment, your router cannot automatically connect to the internet. Their server won’t give you an address. There are no special settings on the router. Except “Connect automatically” in the WAN settings. But this is relevant for connection via login/password. And this setting is set by default. And I understand that your connection type to the provider is “Dynamic IP”. You didn’t specify that.

The wired connection is restored after troubleshooting problems at the ISP

I don’t understand the first point. Where is this connection restored?

Is your router (exactly WAN settings) properly configured to connect to the ISP? Or are you running some kind of connection on your computer?

Rebooting the router, or unplugging/plugging a cable into the WAN port doesn’t restore the internet connection?

You could try updating the router firmware. I don’t see any other solutions that you could apply on your own. You need to contact your ISP support.

Regarding the simultaneous loss of 4G signal. The nearest base station or signal booster is simply turned off.
