The choice of a router for working in Wi-Fi bridge mode. Connection of two houses via Wi-Fi Network

Hello!

I need advice on choosing a router… Inside a residential building internet wi-fi, distribution through the router Asus, with a frequency of 2.4G. The second floor with reinforced concrete slabs covers only in the room above it, the far room of the second floor (~ 10 meters at the level of the second floor) is not covered.

Next to the second house, the distance is ~17 meters, both houses have walls 60 cm thick, brick. In the second house cable unfortunately not under the cable, so I plan to make a bridge, putting in the second house router. Tell me what model to choose with high sensitivity, that would catch the Wi-Fi signal from the main house. Maybe as an option to put in the house strong that was more powerful distribution!? But also what model you recommend???

Yes in the second house, where I plan to put a router to receive the signal, the current level of signal capture Wi-Fi network iPhone -om 6, the second dash near the window….

I plan to put the router by the window as well….

Thank you in advance for your help.

Answer

Hello, I cannot advise you on a specific model. That would be wrong. Since I can not be sure that any particular router will suit you. If everything would look on the spot and check, then you can say something concrete.

I can definitely say that all routers will have about the same “sensitivity”. And if the second house has a normal signal from the main router, everything will work. True, there may be a strong loss of connection speed. Of course, the best solution in your case is a cable.

Now almost every router can work in the mode of a bridge, and / or repeater.
We have a lot of instructions on our site on how to configure routers from popular and not so popular manufacturers.

To connect two houses via Wi-Fi network, it is enough to have a strong signal in the second house. Then simply configure the second router in bridge or repeater mode and get Internet via Wi-Fi network and cable.
