Setting L2TP and PPTP on Xiaomi Mi WiFi 4A. Why doesn’t it connect to the Internet?
Good afternoon, please help me, I don’t know how to solve this problem.
My provider provides access to the Internet via L2TP on this router unfortunately this protocol is absent….
PPTP is also available, gave the server address and login password, when adding vpn in Chinese writes (translated – dial-up) and naturally no access to the Internet.
In the network settings static ip ip mask gateway dns prescribed, on the local site provider to go to the local site gets.
As I understand VPN tunnel is not raised.
Answer
Good day. Gennady, you can set up L2TP or PPTP connection to the Internet on Xiaomi mi Wi-Fi 4A router only one way – by adding a new protocol in the VPN settings on the router. Which is what you are doing. I don’t really understand what it means:
PPTP is also available
Usually one particular protocol is used. Check with your ISP to find out exactly what protocol they use. And add this protocol in the router settings in the “Advanced” – “VPN” section by clicking on the “Add service” button.
Then just choose the protocol PPTP or L2TP and set the user name, password, server address. Be sure to check if you enter these data correctly. If you specify something incorrectly, then Xiaomi mi Wi-Fi 4A will not be able to connect to the Internet (provider).
If you specify everything correctly, then Xiaomi mi Wi-Fi 4A should connect to the Internet. Provided that there are no restrictions on the ISP side.

Where did you specify static addresses? In the router settings? Usually the provider automatically gives all these addresses. Try in the settings, on the “Network settings” tab, set the connection type to DHCP.
If everything is correctly configured, and Xiaomi mi Wi-Fi 4A still does not connect to the Internet – call the support of your Internet provider. Maybe they will tell you something.
