Router TP-Link TL-WR720N cuts speed
Question: When connected directly to the computer, download speed in the browser and everywhere (torrent, etc.) about 10 Mbit / s, when connected through a router TP-LINK TL-WR720N download speed is cut to 1 Mbit / s, what to do I do not know. Tariff 100mb/sec, but I think the matter is definitely not in it. Help.
Answer:
It’s a very popular topic when a router cuts the speed. Especially budget models like TP-LINK TL-WR720N. I would even say that this is normal for such routers. Especially since you have a PPPoE connection type, which is a heavy connection for a router.
On this topic, I wrote a whole article On wi-fi internet speed is lower. Why does the router cut the speed? If you haven’t seen it yet, you can take a look.
What I can advise you:
- Update the firmware of your TP-LINK TL-WR720N. Here are instructions for all TP-LINK models – /instrukcii-po-obnovleniyu-proshivki/detailed-institutions-for-updating-the-firmware-on-the-tp-link-router/

Don’t forget that the speed also depends on the device you connect to the internet. I understand that the router cuts the speed on wi-fi so much, the speed is probably higher on the cable from the router.
