Repiter mode for Xiaomi Mi WiFi Router at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
How to connect and how to assign SSID, so that in the far room to have an uninterrupted signal on both 2.4 and 5 ghz.
Answer:
Good afternoon. I have not worked specifically with Xiaomi routers and have not configured them in the repeater mode, but I can say that when configuring the repeater mode, you do not need a cable connection (although you can probably do it that way). The router receives internet via Wi-Fi and distributes it further. At the same time, the repeater network settings are exactly the same as the main network.
I have not yet seen, or even wondered about repeaters that would simultaneously amplify Wi-Fi network on the frequency of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
But, there is one option. Since you can connect the routers via cable, do not enable the repeater mode on your Xiaomi Mi wi-fi router. And just configure it in normal mode, so that it would receive internet from ASUS router via network cable (as from the provider). And even better, before setting up do a reset on the Xiaomi router, so that we do not interfere with the old settings.
So, configure Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Router in the usual mode, and Wi-Fi network settings, on both frequencies, set exactly the same as on the router ASUS. Exactly the same network name and password. By the way, it is better to write them in English letters. Everything should work. The devices should switch between routers (from which the signal is stronger) unnoticeably for you. And at the same time, you will not have a drop in speed, because the connection is via cable.
