Problems with TP-Link TD-W8901N when working on the network (many devices are connected)

Hello, if you can give me some advice. There are 20 computers connected to the router in the school (2 directly, the rest – through a switch). For 4 months everything worked fine. For the second week there are problems: the Internet is not stable (disappears for a while on some computers, after 5-10 minutes appears, can disappear on all computers for a few minutes or slow down). Simultaneously work 15-10 computers. After rebooting the router – can be improved, but not for a long time….. Tried to put a similar router – the result is the same.

The speed is stable, according to the service provider – no problems on the line. Maybe the router can’t even handle 5-8 computers? But at first everything was fine. I have problems with the Internet on those computers that are connected directly to the router. If two computers remain in the network, everything is fine. Thank you.

Answer

Hello. I think you have answered your own question:

The router does not pull even 5-8 computers

Although, it is not very clear, since above you wrote that:

15-10 computers working at the same time

It is clear that for TP-Link TD-W8901N even 5-8 computers that actively use the connection is a lot. This is a budget, home ADSL modem with wi-fi, which is designed for several simultaneously connected devices. Therefore:

If two computers remain on the network, everything is fine

The whole problem is the load. And there is nothing to be done here. To check, you can open Youtube on all computers and run some video. I’m sure the modem will “fall”.

You need to put more powerful equipment. Or to ADSL modem connect some good, powerful router, which will work exactly in the “Router” mode (will take the load). And you can connect a switch to it. Although, it is difficult to say whether all this will hold some budget ADSL modem.
