New smartphone Meizu does not want to connect to the router

Good afternoon.

Please enlighten me. I bought a new smartphone Meizu 15 Firmware version Flame 7.0.2.0RU. I was going to connect it to my home router Asus RT-N10PV2 and as usual I couldn’t find the password.

I opened the settings via computer and found it in the window “WPA-PSK key” and also in the window “WPA pre-shared key”. However, when I enter it in the smartphone, the connection does not happen. At work I have two more routers (in different rooms) and there the connection happened without problems.

In the settings of the smartphone in the section “status” found that it already has an IP address and for some reason changing. And also the MAC address – it is constant.

In connection with this, a few questions:

  1. Did I find the correct password for the router?
  2. Is it possible to manually write an IP address in the router settings in the “Local network – DHCP server” section, bypassing DHCP?
  3. Do I have to write both IP and MAC addresses of all devices connected to this router? And which of the IP addresses of my smartphone should I specify? The one it has at the moment. But not one of them does not fall within the range of IP addresses that are specified in the router settings?

*I did not dare to change the password of the router, because I am a complete amateur in this business, and I am afraid to press something wrong and ruin everything.

Regards, Michael.

Answer

Hello. Let’s go in order. Yes, the password in the router settings is in the “WPA-PSK key” and “WPA pre-shared key” fields.

Yes, you can reserve an IP address for your smartphone. Bind it to the MAC-address of the smartphone. But why? You have a DHCP-server enabled on your router, right? Do the other devices automatically get IP addresses? So Meizu should connect automatically, without configuring IP addresses, etc.

Don’t change the IP settings. What exactly is the error when connecting Meizu to a Wi-Fi network? How is the connection process going on? If you can see the Wi-Fi network status, then maybe the smartphone is still connected to the network and just can’t access the internet?

Please clarify this information in the comments. Let’s try to find out what could be the reason.
