Netis MW5230 router stopped connecting to 4G via the modem

Hello, I bought a Netis MW5230 router and a Vodafone 829f modem. I configured the connection – it worked, but there was a big ping. I decided to update the firmware, but I forgot to backup the old one. Firmware updated and now the router sees the modem (writes Plugged), but does not establish a connection. That is (in the web-interface) when you press the button “connect”, there is a window with confirmation of connection, I press “ok”, but nothing happens. And earlier before the update all connected, but the ping, I repeat was for some reason large (higher than when directly connected without a router). What to do? I tried to flash again with the same firmware, changed the browser, reset the settings, rebooted through the web-interface – no result.

Answer

Hello. I looked, there is only one firmware for Netis MW5230 on the official website. It’s a pity that there is no possibility to download the previous version. Although, if you write to support, they can most likely provide the necessary software.

Was the status of the modem Plugged before? If the router sees the modem but does not connect to the operator, it would be good to make sure that the modem works on the computer. I realize that such a coincidence is unlikely, but still.

If after resetting the router and configuring it correctly again, the router does not connect via modem, then I see only one option – to write to Netis support. Unfortunately, I can’t advise you anything else.

Regarding the ping. It can be higher through the router. It depends on how much higher it is compared to connecting the modem directly to the PC.
