It does not catch Wi-Fi on the ground floor of the house. Will the repiter help?
In a house on the 1st floor: internet cable-> converter-> Homeplug-> access point.
2nd floor: homeplug-> zyxel router-> more rooms have homeplug to watch internet TV through set-top boxes.
The router does not cover the first floor, only one room. Question: what is the best way to build a network? Will the repeater help me to distribute internet to the first floor or I need another router.
Thank you.
Answer
Hi. Yep, your Zyxel doesn’t cover the first floor? And I think you have another router there, or HomePlug is giving out wi-fi.
I think you could put a repeater on the first floor. If at least one room there has a stable signal. I think it’s in the room under the router that’s on the second floor.
Or the second option: if you have an Internet connection via HomePlug to the power grid, you can turn on another HomePlug with the function of distributing Wi-Fi network on the first floor.
You can also put another router on the first floor. If you need one wi-fi network, then on it you need to set exactly the same wi-fi settings as on Zyxel, which is on the second floor. But it is very difficult to guarantee the stable operation of such a network. It’s just a matter of luck.
I’m in favor of a repeater. Provided that there is a stable signal on the first floor in a certain place where you can put a repeater.
