Does not let the asus router in the adjuster through admin/admin. Why?

Hello, the problem is very strange. My router ASUS RT-N12VP, and I can not enter the router settings from the word no way. I reset all the settings of the router to factory defaults, looked at the bottom of my IP address 192.168.1.1 and this address just does not load (yes, I entered everything correctly) then tried IP 192.168.0.1 everything is great login and password, but enter admin/admin as indicated under the router, again, could not.

And what I did not try and 1234 and just admin without a password – all in vain. Reread all but so the answer and did not find. After connecting to this network on the smartphone, a window popped up with the initial setup – that’s good. I entered the default password admin as well as login admin, set with this password for the network – it works well. But I am not allowed to enter the settings with the help of which I can fully configure the network.

Please help me!

Answer

Hello. Yes, the problem is really strange. At least for the reason that the standard IP address for entering ASUS router settings is 192.168.1.1, not 192.168.0.1. And what the initial router setup is on the phone is not quite clear either. There is no such thing on Asus, as far as I know.

I think that your ASUS RT-N12VP is flashed with some third-party firmware. That’s why the address 192.168.0.1 is used there to enter the settings. Or someone has changed the LAN IP address of the router. But even if that’s the case, resetting the router would return the factory address.

But why then after configuring the router from your phone, when you set admin/admin login and password, you can’t log in from your computer is not clear. I think a more detailed description of the issue and some screenshots would clarify a lot.

Do the following:

  1. See how the window with login/password request looks like when entering ASUS RT-N12VP settings. Attach the screenshot in the comments below. Or maybe you have information on router firmware. What is the history of this router?
  2. Do a factory reset according to the instructions.
  3. Immediately after the reset, try to enter the settings from your computer. Try 192.168.1.1 first. You can see the instructions on how to enter the settings of ASUS routers.
  4. Try to open settings from another device. Or use another browser on the same computer.

I am waiting for your answer with an addition to the question in the comments.
