Connection falls off on the net

Hello. The problem is as follows: we bought a new router about a year ago, and since then we have been struggling with it. Internet set up by the master, which was sent by the provider, but sometimes (or even every day, and sometimes several times a day) the router does not give the Internet. I have to unplug it for a few minutes or pull out the cable. There is internet on the cable, so the problem is not in the provider. Laptop hp, Windows 7. Internet is not distributed neither for the laptop nor for phones.

They see the connection (network name), but can not connect. On the phones wifi icon with an exclamation mark, on the laptop the network is also with an exclamation mark. No one touches the cable or router, it falls off by itself. Sometimes rebooting does not help, plug the cable into the laptop. What can be the matter? Thank you.

Answer

Hello. You didn’t specify the model of the Netis router, which is too bad. But I’m sure it’s some budget model, inexpensive. Because most often, such problems, when the router loses connection to the Internet and you have to reboot it, occur on inexpensive routers. And not only with Netis routers. This is a “disease” of all budget network devices.

I wrote about this problem in the articles: Internet disappears, after rebooting the router appears. What to do? and the router is constantly rebooting, or have to reboot.

As a rule, it happens because the router simply can not cope with the load and hangs. It is also possible that there are already some defects (blown capacitors, for example) on the router board itself, or in the power supply. They are very sensitive to power, and the slightest fluctuations in voltage bring the router into a stupor, and it loses connection with the provider. The only thing that helps is a reboot.

I would also try updating the firmware of the Netis router. You can do this by following the instructions on how to flash a Netis router. Then you can reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it. Only if you have it set up by a master from the provider, you may not be able to set it up correctly yourself, and you will be left without Internet at all.
