Can I use the ASUS DSL-N10E router with Ethernet connection?

Hello. The question is as follows. I have a router ASUS DSL-N10E, which, as the name suggests, is designed for DSL connection to the Internet. I have an Ethernet connection (i.e. a standard RJ-45 plug). Is there any way to adapt this router to my connection? Maybe I can use one of the LAN sockets as a WAN? Or can I connect the router to my computer and use it as an access point without additional hardware? Thanks in advance.

Answer

Hello. I understand your question. If I had an ASUS DSL-N10E I would be able to give you an exact answer. I looked at the control panel screenshots on the Internet and didn’t see such an option there. Most likely, on ASUS DSL-N10E you cannot use the LAN port as WAN and connect the Internet via a network cable (Ethernet).

Do you have such a tab in the settings?

ASUS DSL-N10E: LAN port as a WAN port

If not, it is unlikely that you will be able to connect the Internet to one of the LAN ports.

You can search for information on flashing your modem with OpenWRT or DD-WRT firmware. As far as I know there is a possibility to turn LAN into WAN.
