TP-Link TL-MR6400 and Archer MR200-4G LTE (3G) Routers with A Slot for Sim Cards

Today I was looking for something on the TP-LINK site, and accidentally went to the 3G/4G routers section. And besides the old ones, like TP-LINK TL-MR3220, I saw two new models there: TP-LINK Archer MR200 and TP-LINK TL-MR6400. I went in, looked at them, they turned out to be very interesting devices. We already know that there are routers that support working with 3G/4G modems. We plug a modem into the router’s USB port and it gives out Internet. But new models of TP-LINK routers work differently. In the router itself, there is already a slot for a SIM-card. Just insert any SIM-card into the router, and it gives out the Internet. That is, the modem is already built into the router.
Frankly speaking, until this time, I did not even think that such devices are on the market (not counting mobile routers). But, as it turns out, there are. ASUS has models 4G-AC55U, and 4G-N12. They also have a SIM card slot.
The routers look the same. They look nice:
They’re regular routers that also know how to work with a regular Ethernet connection. Both routers have 3 LAN ports, 1 WAN port, and one SIM card slot. Unfortunately, there is no USB. It would have been nice to have.
By inserting a SIM-card, the routers can work not only in 4G LTE networks, but also in 3G and even 2G networks. It all depends on the network coverage. By the way, mobile network reception should be very good. Two removable antennas, these are just 4G antennas. Wi-Fi antennas are built-in.
Archer MR200 and TL-MR6400, these are ordinary routers, but with a slot for SIM-cards, and are able to work in 4G LTE networks.
What is the difference between TP-LINK Archer MR200 and TL-MR6400?
The Archer MR200 4G/wi-fi hotspot is a bit more powerful in terms of wireless networking. There’s support for 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and the 802.11ac standard. Wi-Fi speeds up to 433 Mbps (at 5 GHz).
The TP-LINK TL-MR6400 model is a bit simpler in this respect. There is no 5 GHz support, and the maximum Wi-Fi speed is 300 Mbps. I didn’t see any other differences.
There is not much information on these models yet. If we believe the prices in Yandex Market, the price for these routers will be about 130 dollars. It is clear that Archer MR200 will be a bit more expensive.
Such routers definitely have a future. They will be perfect for everyone who uses Internet access via mobile network, and when you need to provide access for several devices. For example, in villages where there is no possibility to connect cable internet. Just connect a SIM-card, and get access to the Internet. There is no need to mess with modems.
Such a router can be easily used in the city, just connect to it wired Internet. And inserting a SIM-card, you can go to the country. The main thing is that it would be possible to connect the router to the power grid. Since autonomously they certainly do not work. If you need autonomy, then look for models like TP-LINK M5250.
It would be cool if they made another model, more budget. But the routers I wrote about above are not budgetary. And so, interesting models, I would be glad to make a more detailed review of Archer MR200, or TL-MR6400. I think there will still be such an opportunity. I will tell you more about these models.
