How to Flash a Netis Router?

I’ve added a section with instructions for Netis routers to the site, and of course, in this category there should be an article on updating the firmware on a Netis router. That’s what we are going to do now. We are going to flash Netis WF2411. I will show you how to find the firmware file, download it from the official site, and update the router software. If you have any other Netis model, this instruction will work for you as well, because everything is the same there.
You need to update the software for the reason that in new versions, as a rule, the manufacturer makes a lot of improvements and fixes some bugs. However, on the site where we will download the firmware, there is a description of changes in the new version. As for flashing Netis routers, everything is standard: download the firmware file for our model, go to the router settings and pour the firmware. Now let’s look at everything in detail.
Netis router flashing instructions
And so, first we need to download the firmware itself. I advise you to download only from the official site. To do this, go to the link: http://www.netisru.com/en/Downloads/, and in the list find the model of your router. I have a Netis WF2411, so I choose it.
Then you will see a list with firmware of different versions.
If you have checked the versions and there is a newer one on the site (it’s at the top of the list), just click on the download button to download it. Save the archive with the firmware to your computer.
Once you have the archive with the software on your computer, you need to open the archive, find the firmware file in .bin format and extract it.
Now you can move on to the next point.
Updating the software through the settings
Important!
1. During the update process, do not power off the router, and do not press anything.
2. It is best to update the firmware when connected via cable. Even if you connect your computer by wi-fi, at the time of the software update it is better to connect by cable, which comes with the kit, and Wi-Fi on the computer to turn off.
We connect according to the following scheme: the cable on the router is plugged into the LAN socket, and on the computer into the network card.
We need to enter the router settings. To do this, open any browser and go to 192.168.1.1, or http://netis.cc. You can see this detailed instruction. If you are prompted for login and password, specify them. By default, the prompt does not appear unless you have set a password to protect your settings. The control panel will open. If you have it in English, change the language and click the Advanced button.
Next, go to the System – Software Update tab. There you will see the firmware version that is installed on your router. To update, click the Browse button, select the firmware file (which we extracted from the archive) on your computer and click the Update button.
Wait for the update process to complete.
When the flashing process is over, the main page with settings will open. This means that everything was successful. You can use the router.
