TP-Link TL-WPA4220KIT: Review and Reviews ABOUT POWERLINE Adapters

The TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT is designed to create a PowerLine network. This means that with these two adapters, you can organize an Ethernet network in your home or office without having to lay new cables. Everything works through normal electrical wiring. As a result, we can connect to the Internet from any room, through a regular outlet. The inscription AV500, which you can see in the description, or on the box, says that these adapters can work at speeds up to 500 Mbps.

The TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT is a set of adapters. It includes two devices:

TL-PA4010 – a small adapter that plugs into a power outlet, and the internet from a modem, or router is connected to it. This Nano adapter distributes internet over the power grid.
TL-WPA4220 – it is already bigger, and it is used to connect devices to the Internet from a socket. We plug it into a regular socket, it connects with TL-PA4010, and gives internet via cable and wi-fi. Also, it can work as a Wi-Fi network repeater, while receiving the Internet via the power grid.

The devices work just fine. Setup takes a couple of minutes. If you do not have the opportunity to lay network cables, but you need to set up a stable network that would give the Internet to many devices, then these PowerLine adapters are a very good option. However, HomePlug AV networks have their own nuances, you can familiarize yourself with them in the articles I gave links to above.

TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT review

As I wrote above, the kit comes with two adapters. The TL-PA4010 is small, made of white and gray glossy plastic. It looks stylish and is assembled very well. There are grids on the sides for better cooling of the adapter.

On the front side you can see three indicators, and a “Pair” button to set up a secure connection between adapters. At the bottom there is 1 RJ-45 connector.

The second adapter TL-WPA4220 is also made of white plastic. There are cooling holes on the sides. On the front side there are four indicators (power, PowerLine network, LAN and Wi-Fi network indicator). And the “wi-fi Clone” button, which is designed to disable/enable wi-fi, and quickly configure the Wi-Fi network extension.

At the bottom there are two RJ-45 jacks, for connecting computers, TVs, and other devices to the Internet. There is a “Pair” button, and a recessed “Reset” button for resetting the settings.

Included with the adapters is a two-meter long network cable. Configuration instructions and a disk with the necessary utilities and instructions.

Reviews of TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT

I looked on forums, in online stores, what people write about this kit, there are very few reviews. It’s not strange. The devices, and the technology itself is not very popular.

I have not found any bad reviews. Basically, everyone is satisfied with the work of TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT, and the PowerLine network itself. Everything is set up without any problems. There is no need to pull any cables, drill the walls, disassemble baseboards, etc. There are problems with speed drop when plugging in some serious electrical appliances. But, this is a peculiarity of PowerLine technology.

And as usual, everything is individual. Basically, everything depends on the quality of wiring in your house: the quality of cables, connections, layout, etc.

I liked the TP-LINK TL-WPA4220KIT itself very much, I didn’t find any drawbacks at all. What do you say, what would your review be?
