How to Connect and Configure the Mercusysys MW325R Router?

New instruction on how to configure Mercusys routers. And this time we will configure Mercusys MW325R. I will show you the whole process of connection and configuration. For some reason, many users usually ignore the manual that comes with the router. And look for the configuration guide on the Internet.
Since I already did a review of Mercusys MW325R, we can go straight to the setup. If you happened to come to this page and you don’t have the MW325R yet, I recommend reading my review.
In order for us to get everything working, we need to properly connect the Mercusys MW325R. The first thing to do is plug in the power and turn on the router. Connect the Internet to the WAN port. Cable from the Internet provider (perhaps you have from ADSL modem). If you will be configuring from a PC or laptop, I recommend connecting the router via the network cable that can be found in the kit. It should work like this:
If you don’t have a device that can be connected to the MW325R with a network cable, then connect via wi-fi. This is also possible. By default (factory settings) the wi-fi network is open (no password).
You can configure it from your smartphone or tablet. By connecting to the wireless network of the router. But for convenience, it is better to use a computer.
Once connected, it is possible that the Internet will not work (without access to the Internet, limited). This is normal. You need to configure the router and access to the Internet will appear.
Entering the web-interface and quick configuration of Mercusys MW325R
Moving on. On the device that we connected to our MW325R we need to launch a browser and go to http://mwlogin.net.
The router realizes that this is the first time we have gone into the control panel, it is not yet configured, and so it prompts us to set a password to protect the settings. Only you (by entering this password) will be able to access the router settings. Therefore, think of a good password, specify it in the appropriate fields and click on the arrow to continue the configuration. It is desirable to write down the password so that you don’t forget it.
Next you need to set very important parameters – connection to the Internet (provider). It is necessary to choose the type of connection, and if necessary, to specify the parameters that the provider gives (username, password).
It is very important to set these settings correctly. Otherwise, the Internet through the router will not work, because the router will not be able to connect to the Internet. I wrote about this problem in the article: when configuring the router writes “No Internet access”, or “Restricted”.
I have “Dynamic IP”, in this case you do not need to configure anything additional. And if you have PPPoE, L2TP, PPTP, you need to specify at least a username and password. You can check these settings with your Internet provider.
The only thing left is to configure the Wi-Fi network. Change the network name (SSID) and set a password to protect the Wi-Fi network. I recommend to set a more complex password than mine in the screenshot below 🙂 .
Click on the green button to finish the configuration.
If we were connected via wi-fi, the router will ask us to reconnect since we changed the wireless network settings.
If after connecting to Mercusys MW325R the internet works, then we can celebrate the victory, we have successfully configured the router.
And if there is no access to the Internet, then you need to re-enter the settings, in the “WAN Settings” section, and check all the parameters. Before that, call your provider and ask what type of connection, what settings you need to specify on the router and whether there is no MAC-address binding.
