How to set up a router if the Provider Has Changed?

If you decide to change your Internet provider or move to another apartment, you probably won’t need to buy a new router. After a change of provider, many people have a question, and how to configure the router, which previously worked with another provider. Nothing complicated, everything is according to the standard scheme. However, there are a few nuances, which I will tell you about now.
1
First, I strongly advise you to reset your router to remove the settings from your old ISP. On the router, look for the RESET button, it is most likely recessed in the case. Sometimes, the button is labeled WPS/RESET. Press it and hold it for about 15 seconds. The router should be powered on. Most likely, all the LEDs will light up and the router will reboot.

Next, we need to find out all the necessary data to configure the router. Ask your ISP what type of connection it uses and whether it binds by MAC-address. This information can also be found in the contract, which you should give you when you connect to the Internet. We take our router, connect to it in the WAN jack Internet from a new provider, go into the router settings, and configure it. The configuration process depends on your model. You will need to configure the Internet itself (usually on the WAN tab, Internet), and configure the Wi-Fi network: change the network name and set the password on the wi-fi. You can find instructions on how to configure your router in our section “Setting up your router”.
That’s it. I think you have managed to configure your router after changing your ISP.
