How to Check the Speed of the Internet on a Computer, Smartphone, Tablet?

We will now check the speed of our internet connection. I will show you some good sites where you can easily check the incoming and outgoing speed of your Internet connection. Also, we will consider checking the speed of both computer and mobile devices: smartphones and tablets.
Basically, after connecting the Internet, or after installing a Wi-Fi router, everyone quickly begins to measure the speed. In the first case, to check whether we are not cheated by the Internet provider, and whether we get the speed of connection for which we pay. Which we chose when connecting. And after installing a router, we wonder if it cuts the speed, because everyone writes that the speed through the router is much lower – we need to check. By the way, about the speed of the Internet when connecting through a router, I wrote in the article: on Wi-Fi Internet speed is slower. Why the router cuts the speed?
It doesn’t matter how your internet is connected: directly to your computer, through a router via cable, through a modem (including 3G/4G), or via wi-fi. The way you measure the speed doesn’t change. Only the speed itself changes 🙂
One more small point, and let’s get to the measurements. You probably know that the speed is both outbound – when we download something from the internet, and inbound – when we upload something to the internet. Depending on your connection, this speed can vary greatly. Generally, the sending speed is slower than the receiving speed. And one more thing: the services we will consider, for speed testing, choose the best, and the closest server (to which the connection speed is tested). Therefore, if you download a file from another server (which is located, for example, abroad), the speed may be different from what we will see in the test.
Measuring the speed of the Internet with a direct connection, via wi-fi, and modem.
I always use speedtest.net. It is the most popular service. Go to the link http://www.speedtest.net. And click on the GO button. See how the service tests the speed of our connection.
It will start checking ping, receiving and transmitting speeds. When the test is over, we will see the result. Also, you can see your external IP address, and the name of your Internet provider.
I’m currently working through 3G from my operator, so the speed is like this. But, for wireless Internet, and even in the daytime, the speed is not bad. True, usually pulls up to 9-10 Mbit / s.
If you do not like the site speedtest.net for some reason, for example, because of the large number of ads, you can still check the speed of the Internet on the site http://2ip.io/speed/. Go in and click on the Test button.
A little wait, and see the result of the test ping, incoming and outgoing speed.
There are many different sites where you can do the test. But, these are the most popular ones. I think they will be enough.
How to check the speed of the Internet on a smartphone, or tablet?
You can just as well go to the sites I wrote about above, and run the check. But, I myself use, and I advise you to use the Speedtest application. It is available on both Android and iOS. It is suitable for both tablets and smartphones. Just go to Google Play or App Store, type in “Speedtest” and install the app. It’s free, with ads only. Open it, and start the test with the Start Test button. Of course, your mobile device must be connected to your router via wi-fi. Well, or to the mobile internet.
The check will start, and then the result of the check will appear:
Very convenient. By the way, there is also a tab Results, which displays the history of checks. The same program can be used to check the speed of 3G mobile Internet on your smartphones.
