How to configure video surveillance through an asus router? Port -based sampling, and setting a video recorder without static IP
Here’s the problem. This house with video surveillance – dacha. I want to look into the cameras of the dacha from my smartphone from a permanent residence in another city, using this program. How to realize it? A start has been made, but not for long. They say that you need to open the ports of the router. So? Watched the video helpers.
Tried to open these ports. It didn’t work, because I don’t understand how to correctly prescribe mas-address, ip-address, port range (what are these numbers, why are they such, is there a system, where to take these numbers or they can be invented – I tried to prescribe port switching) when connecting manually. I’m not even a dummy. I do not understand anything in abbreviations, designations, points, numbers, etc. Please tell me how to solve my problem.

I can honestly say that I don’t know anything at all about setting up video surveillance, and have never set up such a circuit. There is not a single article on the site on this topic. Therefore, I am unlikely to be able to advise you something specific. Especially if the master could not customize, who had access to the equipment. But, nevertheless, I will try to clarify some points.
As for the static IP address, and the fact that the scheme worked for some time. Everything can be. Look, the wizard in the gDMSS Lite program specified your current, external IP address. And everything worked. After the power went out and the power came back on, the Internet connection session was restarted and a new IP address was assigned to you. A different one. That’s why it doesn’t work. It turns out that without a permanent, external IP can not do without. That it would be possible to watch cameras even from another city. In the local network – no problem.
As for opening ports on the ASUS router to configure video surveillance. Well, on this topic we have a separate article: How to open ports on the router Asus? Do port forwarding. Which you have probably already seen.
I assume that everything is done like this: I showed in the article how to first assign a static IP address in the local network for the computer (as we opened ports for the computer). And you, assign a static address to the DVR. It should have its IP address on it.
Next, you open a port. Already specifying the IP address that you assigned to the DVR and the port that is specified in the gDMSS Lite program.
I think it works like this. But I think it will work without port forwarding. It’s all about the external IP address. It has to be static.
Although, there is such a thing as DDNS, you can google “DDNS for video surveillance”. This service allows you to set up access to a remote DVR, or for other purposes, without a permanent (static) IP address.
