Router TP-Link Touch P5. Review, Information

Finally got a chance to familiarize with the first touch router from TP-Link. The model is AC1900 Touch P5. Even by the name it is easy to guess that the router is touch. More precisely, it has a touch screen. This is not news, as the router came out a long time ago, but I hope that the information you can read in this article will be useful to you when choosing a router. The Touch P5 router deserves your attention, believe me.

In fact, it’s an ordinary, modern and powerful router that supports work in two Wi-Fi network bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), of course there is support for the new IEEE 802.11ac standard. On board are also 4 gigabit LAN ports, and 1 WAN. Two USB ports, which is very cool. And, one of them standard USB 3.0. Good wi-fi network coverage, thanks to three external antennas, and Beamforming technology.

With confidence I can say that this router will fit even for a large apartment or house without problems. And its power is enough for many devices, and for different tasks. Watching videos, online games – no problem withstand. Well, it is clear, the router works on a dual-core processor with a clock speed of 1 GHz. And not so long ago we were surprised by such processors in cell phones 🙂 .

On the technical side, this is a powerful router. On its basis you can easily build a stable network in your home, or even office. But, TP-Link Touch P5 has one feature that sets it apart from other similar routers, and makes this device even more attractive. It is, of course, the touch screen. It is capacitive, 4.3 inches. I want to say right away that a touch screen on a router is cool. Moreover, it’s not just a touch screen that displays some information, it’s a full-fledged, quick access to the router settings. You can configure the router without a computer, or a mobile device.

I just don’t understand why this topic hasn’t become popular. After all, in fact, with touch screens in routers on Touch P5 everything ended. And the idea is cool, and TP-Link has a good realization, but for some reason it didn’t work. It seems to me that a touch screen on the router scares off buyers. Few people want to pay extra for a feature that they can do without.

By the way, as for the price. You can look in online stores. TP-Link Touch P5 costs not so much. There are even more expensive routers with the same specifications, and without touch screens.

The router itself is not small (it is immediately clear even by the packaging) and has a decent weight. The power supply is also large, not like cheaper models. In the kit there is also documentation, and a network cable.

The upper part is made of black plastic with an interesting structure, with holes. On the front panel there is a company logo and a touch screen with one touch button “Home”. Everything looks very stylish. The body itself is as if curved. There is a blue strip under the screen, which lights up when the router is on, even when the screen is off.

Almost all ports and buttons are located on the back side. There are 4 LAN ports, 1 WAN, and 1 USB. And the second USB, which is 3.0 is located at the bottom, on the bottom right corner of the router. There is also an on/off button on the back, and a Reset button recessed in the case.

As you may have noticed, there are no buttons for WPS and Wi-Fi network on/off. You don’t need them, you can do it in a couple of seconds via the touch control panel.

The ventilation of the router is good, as there are holes at the bottom, sides and even at the top. But here dust will probably get inside the router quickly.

As for the screen itself, it is good, as for a router. Yes, you can see the pixels a bit, and it fades a bit if you look at it from an angle. But this is a router, and you won’t be watching movies on it. It turns itself off after a while if you don’t use it. You can adjust this in the settings. Also, you can adjust the brightness of the backlight.

Touch P5 router settings on the touch screen

The menu is well-drawn. Personally, the settings remind me of the interface of apple products. And so, on the screen even scrolling and typing is pleasant. There is a built-in keyboard, with which you can type passwords and other information that is necessary to control the router.

By the way, TP-Link Touch P5 can be hung on the wall. This way it will look even cooler, and will be more noticeable for your guests 🙂 I don’t usually give ratings, but I would give this model 5 points out of 5. Both for the design, and overall for the idea, implementation, and performance.

TP-Link Touch P5 Reviews

Reviews about Touch P5 on the Internet is not a lot. The model is still not budget, and its audience is small. I liked the router. And it is worth the money. Other things, if we were offered for this price a router with the technical characteristics of some budget model, and covered it all with a touch screen, then yes, why do we need it. And TP-Link Touch P5 has a full stuffing and powerful hardware. In addition, there is support for all modern standards, which means that it will be relevant for a long time.

Well, and the touch screen itself, it’s very cool. Both externally and in terms of functionality. The router can really be configured without connecting a computer or mobile device. And it is in the process of the first configuration, many people have problems. Yes, the touch control panel is in English, but everything is clear there. Of course, not all functions are available from the touch control panel. Otherwise, there would be a complete mess. But everything you need is always at your fingertips.

What do you think of this solution? Do you think there is a future for such routers? Well, if you have already purchased Touch P5, be sure to leave your feedback in the comments.
