Also, try to configure your TP-link Tl-WR840N from another browser, and if possible, from another device. You can even try it from a smartphone or tablet.
I myself have not encountered such a problem, when the control panel does not open the settings, but just a white page. I think the problem may be in the browser through which you try to configure the router.
As for the disk. If you don’t have it, the Easy Setup Assistant utility (which comes on the disk), can be downloaded from the TP-Link website. I looked, but I didn’t find this utility for TP-link Tl-WR840N.
If you have a router of the latest hardware version, you can configure it from your mobile device via the TP-LINK Tether app. If it supports this application, there should be information about it on the box with the router.
