The router does not connect to the Internet provider
I had the internet connected through my laptop to the provider, I decided to connect via router, all the settings prescribed, cloned the mac address. The router shows that everything is ok, but there is no ping, the computer says that the connection without internet. Checked on different routers, the same problem. And if you connect directly to the box, everything is fine. The provider says that they have a binding to the mac address, but the mac address I entered manually and cloned. Does not help. By the way connected ps3 through the cable, all the settings entered, worked, but at the next start the same problem as on the router. Help me figure out what is the cause?
Answer
What type of connection does your ISP use? Do you need to specify IP address, login, password? Or do you have a regular dynamic IP with MAC-address binding?
Ideally, everything should work without problems through the router if you clone the MAC address correctly on the router. It’s strange why the router can’t connect to the ISP.
There is another way, call the ISP support and ask them to change the MAC address of your laptop to the MAC of the router (specified on the router itself). Or maybe you can do it yourself through the provider’s website (it all depends on the provider). And do a reset on the router.
However, there is a risk of being without Internet at all.
