ASUS N751JK laptop hangs TP-Link router
At first everything worked fine. But later problems started – a yellow triangle appeared on the Internet connection icon on the laptop and, accordingly, the Internet disappeared. On other devices the internet was also disappearing (wi-fi was not checked at first). It helped either to connect the laptop without the switch directly to a LAN socket, or to disconnect the switch from the network and turn it on again.
I started to “sin” on the switch, changed 2 pcs. – The problem remained. Over time, the problem became more frequent and more serious – now it could only be solved by rebooting the router, and only by turning the power off and on, and sometimes I had to reboot the laptop. And there was no regularity: the connection could work for a long time, or disconnected every 5-10 minutes.
I called a specialist, all LAN sockets and cables were checked, everything was normal. Took another router – the situation is the same. Brought home a working laptop, connected – everything works like clockwork. It became clear that the problem is in my laptop. I took it to my IT specialist at work. He says he checked the LAN port, network card – they work, updated drivers, checked for viruses – everything is normal. He says he connected it to his more powerful router at work and somehow tested it (I’m not an expert, I don’t really understand). But according to him the situation looks like this: for some reason my laptop starts to “clog” network on the external WAN port, because he has a more powerful router at work, it does not hang, he just has a CPU load becomes 100%, and I have a weaker (household) at home, so it and hangs (on my router really stop blinking all the indicators, which, according to the instructions, means that the router is working). What is the reason for this situation – he can’t figure it out.
Maybe you can help in some way.
Thank you in advance.
Answer
Andrey, good afternoon! Thank you for describing your question in detail. Yes, this problem happens, I’ve heard it many times. I don’t know why the laptop completely “hangs” the router. Especially since the person who looked at and tested the whole thing couldn’t tell me the reason.
I would just completely reinstall the system if I were you. Put Windows 7 on to check it out. It’s not impossible that this one is some kind of virus. After all, if the antivirus didn’t find anything, it’s not certain that there’s nothing there.
And so, new system, new drivers, I think the problem will be solved.
