When the computer is turned on, Wi-Fi disappears. Wireless mouse muffles wi-fi

Good afternoon! My computer connects to the internet via wi-fi. I recently replaced the old “tail-less” mouse with a new one. I started having problems with connection. I changed the channel on the router so that the signals “do not overlap”. It helped for a while. But then the Internet started to disappear again. Looking for a solution to the problem, I started measuring the Internet speed in different parts of the apartment with the help of Speedtest installed on my tablet. It turned out that everywhere the speed is acceptable, except for the place where the computer is. At first I thought that the place was unlucky (although before that everything was more or less normal), but then it turned out that at the same place problems occur only when the computer is on (even if it is in sleep mode). I.e., it turns out that the running computer reduces (almost to 0) wi-fi signal? And how to deal with this?

Answer

Good day! What if you disconnect the wireless mouse adapter from the computer? I think the problem is understood here. The adapter from the wireless mouse works on the same frequency as the wi-fi network. I think in your case it’s 2.4 GHz. And the adapter is jamming the wi-fi network signal. If the wireless mouse was at 5 GHz, you wouldn’t have this problem.

I would start by setting the channel width to 20MHz in the router settings. The default is probably auto ( 20MHz/40MHz). And set it to channel 13. But be careful, if you set channel 13, some devices may not see the Wi-Fi network. You can try other channels. For example, the 12th channel.

You can also set the network mode to 802.11g. But by disabling 802.11n the speed on Wi-Fi network may drop very much.
