Does not go into the router’s settings after updating the firmware

Hi. After a thunderstorm the WAN port on my TP-LINK TL-WR841ND router burned out. I reassigned the WAN port to LAN 4 in the router settings, and everything worked. After a long time I started to lose internet on all devices connected to the router, including my computer. I decided to update the firmware, and after the update, all the settings, including those where I reconfigured the WAN port to LAN4 and now I can not go into the router settings because the router does not see the provider’s cable. Please help me.

Answer

Hi, there is something wrong there. In the sense that you don’t need internet access to enter TP-LINK TL-WR841ND settings. You don’t even need to plug the cable into the WAN (in your case into the LAN port). You need to solve the problem with the control panel login first. See the article on this topic: can’t enter router settings on 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1.

When you try to enter the settings, are you connecting the router via cable? Try connecting to different LAN ports. You can also try using Wi-Fi. Are the indicators on TP-LINK TL-WR841ND lit normally, as usual? Did the flashing process go smoothly?
