Router selection: TP-Link Archer C9 or ASUS RT-AC68U?

Good afternoon! The question of changing the router has arisen. I’m choosing between Archer C9 and ASUS RT-AC68U. It’s hard to decide on my own, and there is no information on the net. My first router was asus – one problem, after him trust in routers asus no. I changed it to TP-Link and have been using it for almost 4 years. But recently started to lose the network (rarely), after rebooting everything is normal. I heard that Asus needs to be constantly updated. To the technology itself Asus no complaints, on the contrary, I consider it the best. Help with the choice, all the same routers are not cheap, I would not want to make a mistake. Interested only in 2-band and with a gigabit port. Thank you in advance.

Hello. In any case, the choice is up to you. You are buying a router for your money, and it’s up to you to use it. I try never to recommend specific models. Moreover, you have access to the same information about TP-Link Archer C9 and ASUS RT-AC68U that I have.

I am not familiar with the TP-Link Archer C9, nor am I familiar with the ASUS RT-AC68U. I only reviewed TP-LINK Archer C8 and wrote a configuration manual (also for C9).

I’m sure both of these routers will work without problems. As for the fact that ASUS needs to be updated all the time – it’s silly. Well, yes, new firmware comes out, and it is desirable to install it. But not every day or week. You may not update at all if everything works well.

You can look at TP-LINK Archer C7 as an option for a home router. ASUS RT-AC68U will of course be more expensive. But the router is not bad either. There are a lot of reviews.
