How to connect LG Smart TV to a laptop via VGA or LAN if there is no HDMI
Good afternoon. Please tell me how to connect LG Smart TV to a laptop, if the laptop has no HDMI connector, DVI connector, but has a VGA connector, which at the same time LG Smart TV does not have. Is it possible to connect LG Smart TV to laptop with LAN cable or USB cable? We wanted to make LG Smart TV a second screen to be able to watch TV, as we do not have an antenna, we watch everything through computers.
Answer
Good day. In your case there are not many options. Ideally, of course, connect via HDMI cable. But if the laptop does not have HDMI output, it is already a problem.
You can buy an HDMI to VGA adapter.
There are inexpensive options. But the problem is that the sound from the laptop will not be played through the TV speakers. You need to output the sound with a separate 3.5 mm – tulip cable.
If you use LAN, you will be able to output only movies, music and photos. That is, the TV will not be like a monitor. Everything will work using DLNA technology.
There is no way to connect the TV to a laptop via USB cable.
