Huawei HG8245 and HG8240: Entrance to Settings, Login and Password

Huawei has two popular network devices: Huawei HG8245 and Huawei HG8240. These are optical terminals with the help of which users can get high-speed access to the Internet using GPON technology. And it is these modems that large Internet providers offer their users. For example, Vodafone.

These are essentially two absolutely identical devices. Only model HG8245 is able to distribute the Internet via wi-fi, and HG8240 – not.

In this instruction I want to show you in detail how to enter the settings of Huawei HG8245. Well, and accordingly, the instruction will be suitable for HG8240. We will consider the process of entering the equation panel. I’ll tell you what IP-address you need to go to in order to enter the web-interface, and what factory login and password you need to specify to enter the settings.

There are many reasons why you may need access to the settings of these modems from Huawei. For example, to change the password on the wi-fi, to customize the modem’s internet connection, to set up IPTV, or to update the firmware.

There is information that Vodafone wants to make (or has already made) the possibility of remote configuration of modems. This means that only the provider’s support representatives will be able to enter Vodafone modem settings and change some parameters there. They will log in remotely. This means that your Huawei HG8245 settings may not open.

In any case, I recommend you to try to enter the control panel of your modem if you need it.

How do I open the HG8245 and HG8240 settings page?

You need to connect to your modem. Your computer by cable (or phone, tablet by wi-fi) must be connected to the terminal. The cable must be included with the modem.

In the settings of HG8245 and its younger brother can be accessed at 192.168.100.1. Therefore, open any browser and in the address bar type 192.168.100.1. To go to press Enter. Important! The IP-address should be entered in the address bar of the browser, not in the search bar.

You should see the authorization page, where you need to specify a login and password to log in.

What login and password to specify?

As a rule, the default is: login (Account) – root, password (Password) – admin.

If they are not suitable, try to specify login – telecomadmin and password – admintelecom.

Next, press the “Login” button and the settings of our Huawei modem should open.

If you cannot open the modem settings

Not seldom there is a situation when the page with modem settings simply does not open. You get an error something like “Failed to display page”, or “Failed to access the site”. A few tips:

First, check to see if your device is connected to your modem.
Try going to 192.168.100.1 from a different browser. If possible, from a different device.
In the IPv4 properties of the LAN connection you can set a static IP address: 192.168.100.2 and subnet mask.
