Local network between PC and Android via mobile hotpot

I have a desktop computer with internet via cable and a wi-fi adapter, Windows 10 on the computer and a tablet on Android. Bought the adapter just to give out internet to the tablet. The mobile hotspot on Windows 10 works fine. But here I wanted more, so that from the tablet can play movies that are on the deskop on the local network wi-fi. On the Android side there seems to be no problem – there are many file manager programs with SMB support. The most convenient that people recommend is ES File Manager, because it allows you to play streaming video. According to the instructions from the Internet to customize it does not work. I want to ask you – is it possible at least theoretically, if so, I will try to further understand.

I understand that ES Explorer installed on your phone did not find your computer in the local network. Perhaps you have configured something wrong.

On your computer, temporarily disable antivirus. Completely, or its built-in firewall. As a rule, it blocks such connections. You can also try disabling the built-in firewall in Windows 10.

Also on your computer, enable network discovery and file and folder sharing (then you can share the necessary folder). This can be done in “Control PanelAll Control Panel itemsNetwork and Sharing CenterAdditional sharing settings”.
Save the settings.

On the phone, which is connected to the Wi-Fi network, which is distributed by the computer you need in the program ES Explorer go to the section “Network” – “LAN” (if I’m not mistaken), click on the button “Scan” and there should appear your computer.
If the phone doesn’t find it, it probably won’t work with this connection.
Also… I think you did a bit of a wrong thing. You would have been better off buying an inexpensive router. You’re still spending money on a wifi adapter for your PC. You would have connected the Internet to the router. Computer to it by cable, and other devices by wi-fi. Then the local network would definitely work. Mobile hotspot is a very unstable function. And you need to keep the computer on all the time.
