I can’t connect the TP-Link TD-W8950N router to the Internet

Good afternoon. I bought a TD8950N router. We couldn’t connect it ourselves, so we decided to call a master. But… And then I heard that it can not be connected to my Internet (provider Vodafone) because my provider has broadband Internet, and in this router only narrowband or telephone can be connected. I have a question, why it is not written about it (if it is) and what is this miracle that everyone refuses me to connect it? It’s a shame but I’ll have to return the pretty boy(((

Answer

Good day. The wizard is absolutely right. Internet provider Vodafone provides internet via a regular Ethernet network cable with RJ-45 connector (chip on the end of the cable). And you bought not a regular router with a WAN port for a network cable, but an ADSL modem with wi-fi. To TP-Link TD-W8950N you can connect only Internet from the phone line. There the connector (and the connector itself in the modem) is smaller (RJ-11).

You need a regular router. There are plenty of them on sale. And in the characteristics of which it is stated “WAN-port: Ethernet”. And for some reason you bought a router with a built-in ADSL modem, whose specifications indicate “WAN-port: ADSL”. There are not many of them on the market. But you found one 🙂 🙂

So there is no way to connect your internet to TP-Link TD-W8950N. The connector (plug) itself will simply not fit there.
