After setting up the zyxel router in the repeater mode, there is no Wi-Fi network

Hello! Used 2 Zyxel routers, the main router is modern, but the second one is from year 11 with an old firmware version. All the necessary settings items are present, but different in description. To update the firmware version of the old router did not work, I could not find its model, there is nowhere on the case.

When I connected everything, only one network appeared, as it should be. The Wi-Fi indicator on the secondary router is lit up, but nevertheless Wi-Fi neither the main router nor my own it does not give out. Maybe I missed a setting or do I need to update the firmware?

Answer

Hello, I apologize for the delay in replying.

There are a lot of unclear points in your case. If your old Zyxel has a repeater mode, then everything should work. But I don’t know what kind of router you have, firmware, what settings are there, etc. I have not configured old Zyxel devices in this mode.

In principle, after the configuration there should be one Wi-Fi network, but amplified by the second router. Especially if the Wi-Fi indicator on it is active.

Go to the settings of the second Zyxel, see what the status of connection to the main Wi-Fi network is there.

As for firmware update, you can find out the router model and other information in the same router control panel.
