Tenda AC5 – A PowerFul and Technological Novelty from Tenda

Tenda has introduced a new dual-band router with a powerful processor and support for many different features and technologies. Model: Tenda AC5. I have already got acquainted with this router. You can read its review on our site a little later, but now I want to tell you about the main functions and features of the new Smart router from Tenda. There is at least one interesting feature that the competitors don’t have. At least, I haven’t seen it on other devices yet.

First of all, let’s take a look at what the Tenda AC5 looks like. After all, despite the fact that this is a router, I believe that appearance plays a big role when choosing these devices.

The new model is housed in a black plastic case. Very interesting texture of the front panel. In the front there are indicators and the company logo. On the sides are holes for ventilation, and at the back all the buttons and connectors. 4 antennas that can be folded and rotated. The power of the antennas is 5 dbi.

And now about the features and capabilities of this novelty.

Powerful processor

Tenda AC5 runs on a powerful 1 GHz processor, which is made on 28nm technology. For a router for this price (about 30 dollars), this is a very powerful iron. It will have no problem with streaming games, or watching 4K videos. This performance is also enough for downloading torrents and other resource-intensive tasks.

Dual-band, with 802.11ac Wave 2.0 support

Of course, the Tenda AC5 can give out Wi-Fi network in two bands at once: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Moreover, this router supports 802.11ac Wave 2.0 and MU-MIM. This allows you to get a total speed of up to 1167 Mbps over a Wi-Fi network.

It is thanks to 802.11as Wave 2.0 that MU-MIMO support is realized and the router can work with multiple devices at the same time. The performance and speed increases several times.

Beamforming+

A technology that allows the Tenda AC5 to beam the Wi-Fi signal in a specific direction. This allows for better wireless coverage. It works like this:

A separate channel can also be created between the router itself and the client (phone, tablet, laptop). For a more stable wireless connection.

Function of automatic copying of connection parameters from the old router

If you already had a router configured before, Tenda AC5 can automatically copy the Internet connection parameters (username, password) from the old device. Just connect them with a network cable and activate the function.

Thanks to this, you can configure the router even faster. I haven’t seen such a feature on devices from other manufacturers yet.

Control from your smartphone or tablet via the Tenda wi-fi app

You can control your router wherever you are. The Tenda wi-fi app for mobile devices works through the cloud.

You can manage your connected devices and block them if necessary. Change the signal strength of the Wi-Fi network, and a large number of other settings. A very handy app, which I will try to write about in a separate article.

Other functions:

• Work in different modes. Tenda AC5 can be configured not only as a router. It can also work as a repeater (amplify Wi-Fi network), WISP, or access point.
• Sleep mode to save power.
• Separate button to quickly disconnect Wi-Fi network.

• Guest Wi-Fi network.
• Simple web interface to manage the router.

Tenda has succeeded in developing a router that currently has no competitors in the price/performance/functionality ratio.
