The speed on all devices after connecting the computer to the router drops strongly

Hello. After connecting the internet I have this problem. The router gives out Wi-Fi and the phone receives the signal normally. Internet works and everything is fine. But as soon as I connect my computer to the network, all the internet disappears.

Both devices are connected to the network, the signal is good, but there is no Internet, or rather it is there, but at extremely low speeds, unsuitable for comfortable use.

Router tplink n300, that is, two connected devices should pull out. I live in a dormitory, so there are plenty of networks. In tech support advised to change the MAC-address (yes, the provider works through binding to the MAC-address) of the computer to the same as the router (that is, the one I specified when connecting the Internet), but it did not help. I also tried to connect only the computer to the network, disconnecting the phone and it did not give any result, the Internet is still at low speeds.

What can be connected with this problem and how to solve it? Since I’m a complete zero in these matters, for detailed instructions will be grateful 10 times more. Thanks in advance.

Answer

Hi. It’s not even clear what the problem is, and you already want detailed instructions with solutions 🙂 .

We need to look into it. You didn’t write, but I understand that you connect your computer to the router via cable? The router is from TP-Link, but they don’t have the N300 model. N300 is a speed index.

Did you already have a router when you connected the internet? That is, is the Internet tied to the MAC-address of the router (which is indicated on the sticker on the bottom of the router)? Or is it tied to the MAC address of your computer’s network card and you cloned it to the router?

What type of connection does your ISP use? Is the connection in the router settings, in the WAN section correctly configured?

If you disconnect the cable (internet) from the router and connect it to your PC, does the internet work?

Please give me an answer to these questions. Try on your computer, in Device Manager just remove the network card. After restarting the computer it should appear there automatically. Also do a network reset on your computer. I don’t know what kind of Windows you have installed, I can’t tell you in detail.
