Tenda Ac6 Review-Wi-Fi Router for a Large Apartment Support 5 GHZ

The main features of Tenda AC6 are strong Wi-Fi network signal and stable operation. And of course it supports 5 GHz band and 802.11ac standard. And all this for a very good price. The retail recommended price of the router is 999 UAH. It is unlikely that Tenda AC6 has many competitors. I mean in the price/functionality/performance ratio.
It’s nice that for the price of a budget device we get a powerful enough dual-band router, which has a 900 MHz processor. Maximum Wi-Fi network coverage due to powerful (5dBi) antennas and support for Beamforming+ technology. Support for MU-MIMO technology. Simple but functional web-interface, IPTV support, control via smartphone application, etc.
On the box with Tenda AC6 it is written in big font – AC1200. Many people for some reason think that this is a router model. No. AC is support for the new wi-fi standard 802.11ac. And accordingly 5 GHz, as it works only in this range. And 1200 is the total speed of the wi-fi network. This router can transmit data at speeds up to 867 Mbps at 5 GHz and up to 300 Mbps at 2.4. That adds up to about 1200 Mbps.
But the WAN and LAN ports on the Tenda AC6 are not gigabit ports. The maximum speed of the ports is up to 100 Mbps. Therefore, if your ISP offers speeds higher than 100 Mbps, then this router is not very suitable for you. Pay attention to the Tenda AC9 model.
The hardware in the Tenda AC6 is very good. The main processor is from Broadcom with a frequency of 900 MHz. This processor is made using the 28nm manufacturing process. The RAM is 64 Mbytes and the permanent memory is 8 Mbytes. The manufacturer promises game streaming in 4k and simultaneous connection of up to 20 devices.
Wi-Fi network coverage, judging by the reviews and my impressions of this router is very good. Above I have already written that 4 antennas with a capacity of 5dBi and Beamforming+ technology are responsible for a strong signal.
Appearance of the Tenda AC6
The box in which the router comes is made in black and orange style. It has basic information about the router and some technical specifications.
The package is standard: router, power adapter, network cable and instructions.
This router looks very unusual. Like a spaceship. It is so depicted on the Tenda website. The shape of the case and antennas is interesting. The entire case and antennas are made of black plastic. The build is good, but I would have made a stiffer mount for the antennas. If you rub the router, they dangle a bit.
The antennas can be folded down.
There is a sticker on the bottom with all the necessary factory information (MAC address, Wi-Fi network name, password, WPS-PIN). There are also many small holes for cooling the router board and two holes with which you can hang the router on the wall.
LED indicators on the front panel are blue. By the way, they can be turned off if necessary.
On the back side of Tenda AC6 there are 3 LAN ports, 1 WAN port, a power adapter connector and two buttons: Wi-Fi (for quick disconnection and activation of Wi-Fi network) and RST/WPS (for resetting the settings and activating the WPS function).
I’ll show some more screenshots of the control panel. And I’ll give you a more detailed review of the settings in the router’s configuration manual.
The control panel is multilingual. Everything is very cool and beautifully done. The main page looks like this:
This is how the section with Wi-Fi network settings looks like:
And advanced settings:
The Tenda AC6 router is perfect for a large apartment. And the powerful hardware will provide a stable and fast connection for your devices. It also has a repeater mode, which allows you to use it to strengthen the signal of the Wi-Fi network. A good option for an inexpensive home Wi-Fi router, which is definitely worth its money.
I will be grateful for feedback about Tenda AC6, which you can leave in the comments. There you can also ask me a question about this router.
